§ 15-2-27. Educational benefit policy.

  • In addition to any other compensation to which a full-time, nonelected employee with at least one year of full-time employment with the city may be entitled, educational benefit pay will be provided as follows:

    (1)

    Associate degree or the equivalent of at least 64 semester hours of credits, per month ..... $ 50.00

    (2)

    Bachelors degree, per month ..... 100.00

    (3)

    Masters degree, per month ..... 150.00

    (4)

    Doctorate or juris doctorate degree, per month ..... 200.00

    Each degree or hour of credit must be from an accredited institution of higher learning, which is recognized and accepted by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. Each employee must provide the city with a copy of his degree and a transcript or letter from the college for verification. For the purpose of this section, directors and the chief administrative officer are eligible for educational benefit pay.
